How to Keep Fit This Summer

fitness

Winter is over, it’s now spring and you suddenly realize you’ve put on weight in winter that you must get rid of before summer. You want to get that beach body ready as soon as possible but you often get too optimistic when you dream. Keep the following tips in mind to make sure you get where you want by summer:

  1. SET REALISTIC GOALS

When you decide on the kind of exercise you are going to do and how often, be realistic. Also, be realistic about how much weight you want to lose. Setting unrealistic goals will only frustrate you. You are the only one who knows your true abilities, so plan your schedule and go for it with as much enthusiasm as possible!

  1. KEEP YOUR LEGS MOVING.

Ever woke up deciding to go to the gym, and kept it up for two days before going back to your old self? So have we. The best way to begin your exercise program is to start out slowly and gradually, increasing duration and intensity with time. Since it's summer, you can also enjoy swimming, brisk walks on the beach, and even water polo with your friends.

You can also make slight lifestyle changes, which are easy to incorporate into your day. For example, when you are at the club, play with your children instead of watching them play.

  1. EAT HEALTHY: Quick “Stay Fit” wins

Unhealthy diets, diet pills and liquid meals are definitely not the correct path to better health. You will need to decrease your calorie intake to lose weight, but that does not mean that you have to starve. Remember that you have to make sure that you are getting all of your daily nutrients. Also remember that you don't have to eat foods that are tasteless.

Consider these quick wins to stay fit:

  • Eat candy no more.

Limiting cakes, candies and dessert will help you instantly cut down on needless calories.

  • Drop The Fats

Fat has more than twice the calories of carbohydrates and protein per weight, so reducing the fat content of your diet is going to be essential. Foods high in fat include most fast foods, red meats, pastries, full-fat dairy products, oils, butter and mayonnaise.

  • Choose the right carbohydrates

Experts generally agree that 45 to 65 percent of your total daily calories should come from carbohydrates, but of course the healthier ones. So go for complex, high fiber carbohydrates such as whole grain bread and pasta, brown rice and other grains such as oatmeal. You can go for a healthy bowl of Nestlé Fitness cereal for breakfast for great carbs intake.

  • Choose Wellness.

Healthy foods include vegetables, fruits, grains and lean sources of protein including beans, fish and lean meat. Also, don't forget to get your daily calcium requirements because a lack of calcium can cause osteoporosis.  Make sure you’re eating enough of every food group your body needs. We know the temptation to eat out or order in when it’s summer is too intense, but you can definitely fight the temptation and if it’s too hard to resist.
